Fig 5:
This window mock-up has been computer edited to show how the screen would look in open and closed position.

Please note that for display purposes the screen on the right has been technically accentuated to make the screen more visible on this photograph.

Left: the window is closed. The screen is rolled up out of sight in its storage cassette at the top of the window.

Right: The window is open. The screen has been pulled down to close.
Note the handrail which closes against the sill with a flexible mohair brush ensuring a perfect seal.

Installation:

Rollaway Insect Screens are designed to stay on the window permanently (there is no need to remove for winter) and are screwed into the window frame. This means units can easily be deinstalled, e.g. to replace a damaged mesh or components may be switched to another window(s) due to alterations/renovations.

Locking Mechanism:

Screens are held down via a mechanical closing system (locking pins). There is no magnetic strip running along the window sill.

Fig 1:

This detail shows a portion of the cassette (this is normally fitted to the top of the opening window), the screen is rolled up in here when your window is closed. The tracks (side guides) are attached to the cassette on either side and serve as guiding channels to hold the screen in place and provide a totally effective side seal.

Fig 2:

The cross section of the cassette shows you how much space is required between the actual window and any curtains or blinds if these are installed inside the timber window frame. If you are considering adding some Rollaway Insect Screens at a later stage we would recommend making space allowance of min. 55mm when installing any curtains/blinds to avoid having to reposition these.

Fig 3:

This represents a top view into a track (side guides). The groove on the inside of this U-profile holds a special brush seal which closes against the screen mesh (indicated as a dotted line), making sure no insects can get through. The tracks run down either side of the window and are approximately the same width as the aluminum window frame (depending on joinery suite).

A wide range of additional fitting options are available to suit different window types and aluminum joinery brands, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any queries.
